Hi, I’m David! I help with some of our homeless outreach initiatives and I would love to tell you about an event we hosted a few weeks ago. We had a film night for those in our community who are homeless or lonely. Our idea was to create a very relaxed friendly atmosphere where people who may feel alone could come in and watch a good film, one that isn’t overly Christian, but has a good positive underlying message. All while enjoying free popcorn and coke!
We all thoroughly enjoyed the gritty film, Machine Gun Preacher. Just one person outside of the church came, but that’s a positive start! As Janie said a few weeks ago in her talk, it is not about results, it is about obedience. We really believe this is such a great way to engage and care for people. The team are looking forward to the next film night and are praying that more people hear about it, look forward to it and come again!
