Prayer

Prayer is at the heart of seeing God’s kingdom come on earth and we long to see Guildford and this world transformed for God’s glory.

We believe that being a member of a church involves praying for the church and we would love you to join with us. Here are a variety of ways to get involved below.

Vision & Prayer Evenings

In the Autumn and Spring Terms, we have Vision & Prayer evenings (usually on a Tuesday evening), where we encourage everyone who sees themselves as part of our church to come and pray for all the things God is doing here and in Guildford. These evenings have a variety of styles of prayer and are always such an encouraging time for us as a community as we hear stories of how God is moving and spend time together in prayer. Look out for the next one in the Autumn term!

Thanksgiving, Prayer and APCM (20th May)

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 encourages us to, “ Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Inspired by this verse, we will be spending an evening together giving thanks to God, to rejoice in him and pray for our church vision alongside our APCM (Annual Parochial Church Meeting – our yearly church meeting which looks at our past year, finances, electoral roll and elects members onto our PCC). We would love you to join us.

Prayer Week: 14th– 24th May

We’ll be spending 11 days in prayer from Ascension to Pentecost Sunday. More details to follow soon.

ABIDE // Prayer & Worship Evening

In John 14 v 4-5 we read Jesus saying to his disciples, ‘Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.’

Our next ABIDE // Prayer and Worship Evening is on Tuesday 21st April at 8pm – you’re so welcome to come along!

ABIDE // Prayer and Worship Evenings will be a chance to simply spend time abiding in the Lord’s presence together, as we bring before him our church, Guildford and our own lives. These evenings will hold a variety of different styles of prayer and worship, from the contemplative to the charismatic. There will be spaces to get creative too with art materials etc.

Sunday Prayer // Prayer Ministry

On Sunday, as well as spending time praying for the world, Guildford and our church, we offer prayer for those in person. We call these moments prayer ministry, and this simply means to have someone stand with you in prayer and prayer that the Holy Spirit would meet with you and move in whatever situation you’ve asked for prayer for in your life. Our Prayer Ministry team are all trained regularly. If you choose to come forward in prayer, you can expect them to simply ask your name, ask what you’d like prayer for, ask if you’re ok with them placing a hand on your shoulder and to then to pray a prayer for you then and there.

If you would ever appreciate prayer for anything beyond a Sunday, please get in touch with Joy our Worship and Prayer Pastor and she will organise someone to meet you at a time that works well for you.
