National Partners

As a Church, we support some incredible organisations working up and down the country to share the good news of Jesus with everyone. These are known as our National Partners.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

What is the focus? CAP is a Christian charity based in the UK. It is a national organisation specialising in debt counselling for people in financial difficulty, including those facing bankruptcy or insolvency. CAP works through local churches and helps 21,500 families each year with various courses, debt centres and job clubs.

How is the St Saviour’s Big Family involved? CAP is one of our local partners and we regularly run the CAP Life Skills Course, a fantastic 8 week course providing practical skills in how to manage money in all areas of life. The stories of lives transformed and restored are amazing!

How can I help? We are currently looking for some coaches to be trained to help lead the Life Skills Course.

Please contact the church office if you would like to find out more or get involved.

Friends International

Who are you?
Friends International is a UK (and Ireland) wide ministry that exists to share the good news of Jesus with international students in word and deed so that they join in with the mission of God.
In Guildford we are a team of 3 staff (Phil, Lilli and Tanja), about 30 volunteers and 30 hosts (all from a range of local churches), we are also chaplains at the University of Surrey (Lilli is Principal chaplain alongside Rabbi Alex, Phil is an International Christian Chaplain, Tanja is Assistant Chaplain)

What do you do?
  • We welcome international students to Guildford, providing a range of activities in 3 categories:
  • Social (walks, day trips, ladies only evenings, boardgame evenings, seasonal events),
  • Skills (leadership course, cultural awareness courses for students and university staff, bible studies, discipleship training, cross-cultural training for churches) and
  • Support (pastoral support, hosting scheme with local families)

Ultimately we want students to get to know local Christians, to journey with them for a little bit so that they can share the good news of Jesus in a relevant and appropriate way

Why do you do what you do?
  • In the Great Commission in Matthew 28 Jesus calls us to go into all the world to make disciples – at the University of Surrey we have over 140 represented, which is a wonderful opportunity! The nations are at our doorstep, and we don’t have to learn their languages.
How can we support you / get involved?
  • Financial support (we have to raise around £30 000 annually -additionally to our regular income- in the next few years).
  • Prayer (we send out monthly prayer newsletters).
  • Practically – volunteer or host with us.
  • And join in with our training mornings (Oct, Jan) to equip your church in supporting internationals and growing cross-cultural communities.
