Thank you so much for your willingness to help with our Youth, Children’s or Trekkers ministries. Prior to helping in the teams we will need to do some safeguarding checks, and we’d also like you to have access to St. Saviour’s Safeguarding & Recruitment Policies and Job Descriptions (found below).
These policies set out the details of Safeguarding at St. Saviour’s and how the procedures for team recruitment work. There are also privacy, whistleblowing and recruitment policies for ex-offenders.
The Recruitment Process
During the recruitment process, we will ask you to complete an application from online, prior to meeting with the team leader, who will meet with you to explain how the teams work and discuss with you how you relate with the children/youth in their groups and sign a volunteer agreement form.
Then you will be asked to complete a DBS application, a confidential declaration form (which can be found below), then you will meet Hilary to check your ID.
We’ll then send out the reference requests for your two referees (online).
If you already have a DBS registered for the update service, please do let us know as Hilary, our Safeguarding Administrator, will be able to check whether we’re able to use that.
Finally, we’ll ask you to complete some online safeguarding training. Once you’ve completed that, we will confirm that you’re able to help with the group you’ve applied for and the ministry leader will be in touch.
