Christmas is nearly here! With only a few weeks to go, here is all you need to know about services at St. Saviour’s this festive period…
We have so many great events coming up and we’re looking forward to holding these both in person and online

 

Family Service – 13th December | 10:30am

A family fun Christmas carol service! Come along with your small shepherds, angels and wise men & women, to a service full of Christmas games, crafts and celebration. This service will be suitable for all children of all ages 0-99 and will last for approximately 45 minutes.

Contemporary Carols – 13th December | 4pm & 7pm

We would love you to join us on this merry evening as we sing carols led by our fantastic band and hear a wonderful Christmas message! Whether you join us in the room or watch from home with some mulled wine in hand, it’s going to be a fantastic evening. This will replace the normal 6pm evening service. Please note that there will be no children’s provision at this service, but all are welcome.

Morning Communion – 20th December | 9am

Come along to our last 9am service of the year, enjoy some of your favourite carols and a chance to take Communion together.

Traditional Carols – 20th December | 4pm & 7pm

Our Traditional Carol service this year is not to be missed! The St. Saviour’s choir will lead some of our favourite carols, accompanied by organ music, alongside traditional Bible readings and a short talk.  We would love for you to invite friends to book tickets for one of our two services, or to tune in and join us online as we prepare to celebrate Christmas together! 

The 7pm service will have BSL interpretation.

Christingle on Zoom – 24th December | 4pm

Our Christingle service this year will be fun and interactive as we all take part from our homes on Zoom. Our Christingle service is open to all but particularly appropriate for families with younger children. The format will be informal, interactive and full of fun, as we will be playing games, making a Christingle orange together and hearing the Christmas story. This service should be about 45 minutes long.

Midnight Communion – 24th December | 11pm

It’s always busy at St. Saviour’s on the night before Christmas. Come and join us for a joyous and reflective late night service as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, take Communion together, see in Christmas morning and be the first to wish each other a Merry Christmas.  

This service will have BSL interpretation.

Christmas Communion – 25th December | 8am

A traditional Communion service for the earlybirds on Christmas morning. This service should last about 45 minutes.  Please note there will be no children’s provision at this service.

Christmas Celebration – 25th December | 10:30am

Come and join us as we celebrate Christmas together. This service is for all ages and will include carols and a short talk as well as lots of festive fun! Please note, there will be no children’s groups running during the service, as our morning Christmas celebration is designed for all ages and a perfect opportunity to celebrate together as a Big Family.

This service will have BSL interpretation.

Thank you Baubles

We would also love to fill the glass windows at the front of the church centre with thankfulness this Christmas – we have so many things and people to be grateful for. Who are you thankful for? Key workers? Friends? Neighbours? Family? God? We’d love you to fill out one of our Thank you bauble postcards for us to display, and either email it back to the address on the card, or post it through the letterbox on the centre doors. Extra Information:

Tickets: You’ll be able to register your interest to come along in person from 30th November for our Carol services (13th & 20th Dec) and from 7th December for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. All our Christmas services will be live streamed and available to watch at anytime after. We’d love you to join us!

Accessibility: All our services benefit from level access and a hearing loop. Some services will have BSL interpretation and this is noted above.

After Christmas: On the Sunday after Christmas (27th December) there will be one 10:30 am service. While there will be no specific provision for children, families or young people, everyone will be most welcome as we reflect on the year that is past and look forward to the New Year.

Offerings / Collections: Our Christmas offerings this year will be collected for FISCH and Angel Tree. FISCH are one of our Mission Partners. They have a heart to help street children living in Iringa, Tanzania and give them a hope for a better future. Angel Tree is a charity initiative that helps provide Christmas presents to the families of imprisoned offenders.

Church Centre: The church centre will be closed between Wednesday 23rd December and Saturday 2nd January inclusive. During this time, there will be an out of hours phone services for pastoral emergencies, details of which will be made available via church communications nearer the time.
