Running Guildford 10K for Real Change

We had an amazing time on Sun 13th Oct, where over 60 of our church family ran Guildford 10K for Real Change – a charity supporting the homeless in Guildford. Barney, one of our students writes this:

“From the moment Lucy sent the email out in June about running Guildford 10K as a church, I was all over it with excitement; I had just started running and was keen to have a target to train towards, and it was was such an awesome focus for me over the next three months.

Memories of finding the hills in the Peak District, long cycle rides, a Parkrun PB, early morning runs and fun runs with my brother, work colleagues and friends are really special; the training, almost more than the achievement of the run itself, makes me want to sign up for a Half Marathon next year, as well as Guildford 10K 2020 of course!

The race itself was tough! My target was 40:00, which meant a pretty gruelling pace to keep the whole way round, and the hilly course was not kind! But running with the support of my church family, some of whom had trained for and run it themselves, was so encouraging and fun; there was such a strong community spirit behind the event.

The fact that we were able to raise money for Real Change Guildford through some incredibly generous donations from friends made the whole experience extra special, and I hope and pray that we will see change in lives as a result.”

We have a representative from Real Change visiting our 10:30am service next Sunday (10th November) to present our fundraising money! If you were part of the run, we’d love to see as many of you there as possible!
